PERSUASIVE LETTER-SCHOOL

 PERSUASIVE LETTER-SCHOOL

Do you remember your high school’s rules? If you had a chance to change at least one, what would it be and why?

If you are thinking about banning a rule in your school, here you’ll find a letter request example!

Dear Principal Edwin Garcia,

I am writing to you on behalf of all the students from LCC request you a change in the attendance and promptness to school and dress code rules, I recognize the importance of being on time everyday for better learning and the purpose to keep a neat and well presented dress code but I totally disagree in denying us the entrance to  the school if we are late since we don't consider it fair and safe, here is a clear reason: my sister gets to school by the school transport, she doesn't have cell phone and has never travelled alone, one day the driver arrived late and the guard man did not let in the students, not knowing what to do and feeling worried and scared about it my sister started crying and had to wait alone in the sidewalk until the school transport came back at noon. She missed classes and a presentation she had prepared the night before just because she was 5 minutes late. Besides that my sister was exposed to street risks without mention all the students who did whatever while their parents thought they were at school.

In addition, the dress code has nothing to do with learning, one of my worst experiences in my seniors year was the day I lost my English level test, I was always on time but that day I had an accident, my skirt ripped, that was the only one I had, since I didn't want to miss the exam,I returned home and putted on a pairs of jeans, I did came on time but the coordinators didn't let me in just because i was in jeans. I missed my English test.

In conclusion, I consider rules are meant to keep a good learning climate and help to maintain order but you should consider changing them because instead of helping students and their learning experience these rules block their learning and even put their lives at risk.

It is good to have rules, but following them should not be more important than our learning and safety.

Thanks,and best wishes,

Carolina Delgado
