CHART & VENN DIAGRAM EXCERSICE.

 Hi everyone!

Have you ever write a compare and contrast essay? Today I will share to you some prewriting techiques that you  can use before the outline.Venn diagram and Chart, the first one is easy to do and easy to read and check, is very useful to compare two or more things. And the Chart helps you to organize the criteria you want to focus on.

You can practice some methods to make a well organized essay: Point to Point and Subject by subject.

VENN DIAGRAM---POINT BY POINT

Comparing students who work and unemployed

Outline

Paragraph 1

Introduction

Paragraph 2

Similarities

  • Employed or not, students have the desire to succeed in their career and become a professional.

  • Students who work and those who don't are intelligent and have the same capability to learn.

  • The most remarkable thing in common is to graduate from the university.

Paragraph 3

Differences

  • Students who work have their own money to afford their studies and expenses, on the contrary unemployed students are dependent on their parents.

  • Employed students tend to be more  stressed because they care about their job and studies, on the other hand students who don't work are focused only on studying.

  • Employed students sometimes struggled with job schedules and university assignments or projects but those who just study can manage their time and tasks as they want.

Chart: Subject by subject.

Driving a car or Riding a bus.

Driving a Car

Riding a bus

Stress

You deal with traffic and bad drivers

You can relax and take a nap while you arrive.

Expenses

You pay for the gas and mechanic.

You just pay for the ride.

Safety

You are safe in your car.

You are at risk of robbery or sexual harassment.

Privacy

You listen to music you like, you can talk over the phone.

You have to listen to annoying music, and everyone sees you or listens to your conversations.

Comfortably

Your car is clean and comfortable as long as you take care of it.

The majority of buses in El Salvador are in bad conditions, and crowded.

Time

You manage your time, you choose the way and you hurry up if needed. No unnecessary stops.

Drivers can be slow or fast, they stop at the gas station, talk with another driver, to wait for more passengers or the bus has a mechanical issue.

I'd say I prefer the Venn diagram rather than the chart because it is easier and practical.
