How has technology changed education?
Hi, I hope you all are doing well.
As we learned last time about cause- effect outline, this entry is about an effect essay. Let's learn a little bit about technology and education!
How has technology changed education?
Technology has impacted almost every aspect of life and education is not an exception, it has changed education in many ways, let's review a few.
Technology has increased access to education, long time ago it was not like this.Just a few had access, people had to travel long distances to their schools and universities but now education is available at one's fingertips. Currently you don't have to pay for expensive courses and books, you can join free online courses and get free ebooks. Also, there are virtual courses, even careers from other countries and to take advantage of this helps you to save money and time. This means that you don't have to book a flight or spend money to live abroad, you just have to pay the course and sometimes you can access it for free!
Therefore, teachers’ and students’ roles are different, students are becoming more independent and self- taught, students do their own research and no longer need too many explanations from their teachers because they use technology as a reinforcement.Consequently, teachers are no longer an indispensable source of learning but rather a guide and support for the student, the balance of the teacher-student learning process is more balanced.
For these reasons, teachers expect high quality projects and presentations since there are a lot of tools and resources to do homeworks and projects.Students can access a lot of free tools and programs on the internet in order to have very well presented projects. But students also demand more well prepared teachers since they have access to their devices in classes they can easily compare or double check what their teacher and professors are teaching them and they don't expect to be taught what they can read from the internet.
Technology devices play a very important role in every classroom nowadays, teachers use their tablets and laptops to have their notes or present their classes and keep their students reports, grades and classes. As well as students find it more practical to record the teacher instead of taking notes on a notebook so that they can listen to the class as many times as needed, also any doubts or gaps they may have can be resolved by themselves through looking for it on the internet. Technology is not any more a distractor Technology is no longer a distraction but a useful tool for both the teacher and the student that facilitates and makes the learning process more efficient
Agreed with you Carolina, nowadays internet has become something indispensable to everyone.
